One of the things we learn as parents is that as kids start to grow it becomes harder and harder to prepare meals that they will eat. Now this site is not about how to always prepare meals your kids will eat but an experiment I have decided to do for the next year. Starting April 1, 2016 this site will go live with a new recipe each day that I have prepared for my boys.
I am one of those stay at home dad's, at least most of my time, ok about 70% of the time, where I do the majority of the cooking and house stuff, now my wife Skye might disagree with the last part. I am however pretty sure I do allot of it, but that is another experiment in tracking.
My boys are now 7 & 9 years old and providing all kinds of challenges in life. One of the biggest is meal times. Not the meals you prepare for breakfast and lunch those almost always seem to go well since they are pretty straightforward but dinner is often a challenge. Finding something that is healthy, nutritious and that will tantalize their taste buds is a never ending challenge.
Do I prepare something Skye and I would enjoy and maybe completely miss the mark on the kids eating it or do I prepare something they will like and not get all the flavours Skye and I like. Well this is the challenge that I am taking up for the next 365 days and we will see where it goes.
If you like this site please share it if not well share it anyway and make fun of it. It is not intended as a career change as I am already a web developer and this is simply something I want to experiment with and do.
I also want to get back into writing, once I was pretty good at it and have not done any for over 15 years now and it is time to step up my game a bit.
Most of the recipes here will be for dinner ideas and have at least one per day. Most of the time they will be actual meals I have prepared that day and the results of what the kids thought and if they ate them. I am a big one for finding recipes from all sorts of places such as old cook books and then modifying them to suit what I like or feel what my kids will like. Many of the recipes I will post I have created myself from experimentation, that's what you will find within these pages.
If you have suggestions for recipes please feel free to visit my contact page and submit them I'll even give you credit for the submission but I will of course take all the glory when the kids eat it and blame the recipe when the kids hate it.
